Encouraging Words on Hump Day

Here's some encouragement to get you through the rest of the week!

1. Your path right now to wherever you are headed is going to be messy, and that is 100% okay!

2. If you've become discouraged in your child life journey, [[whether you are a student trying to make it through the semester,
applying and interviewing for internships,
trying to survive your internship,
applying and interviewing for jobs,
in a job and feeling burnt out,
stuck in between job opportunities because you got let go,
or wherever you may be]]
Go back to why you started this journey in the first place. Get someone to ask you why you wanted to be a child life specialist. I guarantee you that going back and telling those stories will bring butterflies back to warm your heart.

3. Choose joy. Choose positivity. You may have had a terrible day. Maybe you failed an exam, maybe you dealt with a death, maybe you lost your job, maybe you were rejected from another job... maybe even that relationship you thought was going strong just ended.
Regardless, I promise if you look hard enough, there is something good in every day. It's just a matter if you choose to find it or now.

4. I've realized lately how terrible social media is for our hearts. We see only the "picture perfect" that others post, and we immediately beat ourselves up because our lives look nothing like that. Stand strong in who you are and realize that your security and self esteem cannot be shattered by others unless you choose to let it. Your path looks different. That's okay. Own it.

(Sorry to our few guy readers, the quote works the same way!)

5. Never look back. You can do it. Maybe you didn't receive that internship, that practicum, that job, that engagement ring, that house offer on a house, that... fill in the blank. Keep moving forward. I promise something good will eventually come of it!

If Elle Woods can make it at Harvard Law, you can do anything you put your mind to as well! Just remember, she had to work for it and so do you!

Happy Hump Day and
Happy Veterans Day to all those who have served in our US Military!
