Certification Exam Study Tips!

Are you getting nervous about your upcoming certification exam? Check out our post on managing stress!

The Child Life Certification Exam is a big deal. You have worked very hard to get to this point, so take a second to just enjoy this moment.

There are various methods and materials you need to be successful in studying.

Books

Psychosocial Care Children Hospitals

Child Council Professional Certification Examination

Meeting Children's Psychosocial Health Care Continuum

Notecards

The Child Life Council put out flashcards that are very thorough and helpful when studying for the exam. Most of the information is straight from the texts, so it may not be necessary for you to reread texts and notecards.

WARNING: The notecards can be very overwhelming because there are so many of them, so take them in stride!  (focus on the practice question cards)

Practice Tests
A lot of internship sites, the ACLP Study Guide, and the flashcards all come with practice tests. These were one of the best study methods for me because it worded things as actual questions. USE THEM!

In all honesty, the most effective method of studying is paying attention during all of your courses and your internship. Take everything to heart and take notes on everything! Child Life should be permeating through your blood before this day has even come, so breathe! You'll do great!

So, if you are current student hoping to sit for your certification exam someday, take those last words to heart. Do your best in all of your classes! Go the extra mile! It'll be worth your time when you get to put CCLS behind your name!

See the ACLP's website for more information about preparing for the Certification Exam here
